I am Erida Shehu, the creator of the Dreamland.al site. Initially I graduated in "Electronic Engineering" and then I did a 1 year design course for graphic design, which I have 7 years of experience. I worked as a "Jewelry Designer", "Graphic Designer", and 'Retoucher ". After the birth of my son I decided to take a break from my daily work, and at this time the great need to put all my creativity to work. I have always been passionate about Handmade Crafting and from time to time I have experimented with different materials, paper, wood, clay, and then concrete using the toys of Jon (my son).
After various researches for a long time about the material used, its experimentation, and then the improvement of the product, I made the decision to exhibit it as a product, creating ideas on its composition and use, in order to arrive and be offered to as many people as possible who are interested in it. I am still in the first steps of this journey, constantly experimenting with material, colors, shapes and at the same time being informed about the interior and design.
Dreamland was born out of a great desire to create and design. In this way I express all the emotions and enthusiasm that accompanies me after each creation. Therefore, these unique pieces carry with them the emotions of dreams.
Influences are numerous. From different designers, artists, different creators as well. I gather as many ideas and information as possible and then adapt them to my way of creating.
Generally the focus is there, decorative objects but which are widely used. The range of products is increasing day by day, as I like to experiment with forms that I find everywhere. Currently, there are holders which are of different shapes and sizes, but there are also flower vases or candle holders, jewelry holders, candles created partially based on concrete, etc.
I am making products according to the requirements. In advance I collect materials and shapes which I show to the clients and then together we select the colors. I work with different sizes of shapes which I find ready or I create them myself.
After a series of experiments with different materials, such as paper, wood, clay… and pretending to create an object as durable and strong as possible, I started experimenting with concrete. After more than 1 year of testing with concrete material, I started creating the products I offer today.
Thank you! I don't follow any special technique. After mixing the materials to get the right product, I work with the color combinations and spread the material in the appropriate forms. The result most of the time is surprise. Once the colors are related to each other randomly. I like this more in concrete.
The products are very durable, it is enough to maintain and avoid strong shocks, which can cause cracking or breakage. The material is resistant to temperature and humidity, so the objects can be easily used indoors and outdoors.
Dreamland can currently only be found online, via instagram @dreamland.al. Plans to have a complete online platform are numerous. I hope to realize it as soon as possible.
