I don't know how to say it exactly, but the way everyday life happens and the urban vibe of the city of Pristina. Growing up between modernist and brutalist architecture has subconsciously influenced and awakened my curiosity to discover more about architecture. Also, the great influence of the art, of painting and technology from parents and family.
The most challenging project has been the involvement in the representative team of the Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2018, curated by Eliza Hoxha, where I was assistant curator. Pressure, love, narrative, passion and management are very challenging and contradictory elements that had to be united with patience and calmness in order to carry out a job with such responsibility as the pavilion representing a country, especially Kosovo.
I don't see architecture as something static or definitive but as something very fluid, vibrant and eclectic. That's why I can't possibly tell you which is the project that represents me the best, since from 'small scale' to 'big scale' we have a very atypical approach depending on the situation of the moment that the project may be.
Keep going and invest in self-taught personal development, work, read, love things and stay focused on the main objective.
The most important thing is that you must be updated all the time, especially in the technological aspect, and create your own bubble as original as possible to stay inspired, to be creative.
Hmm...I am inspired by everything from neighborhood streets, problems, crammed spaces, narrow alleys, informality, central formality, city corner gossip, music, art, culture, technology.
As an artist I have been inspired and guided by many from Matisse to Basquiat who is my favorite. As an architect I have been inspired by architects such as: Peter Eisenman, Peter Cook, Rem Koolhas (in theory rather than practice), Aldo Rossi, Otto Wagner, Toyo Itto and Sejima. There are more but these are some of the most interesting ones that come to mind at the moment.
