Have you ever noticed that in some restaurants you really enjoy the food and the atmosphere? You feel so comfortable in sharing your thoughts, experiences and emotions with your companions.
DID YOU EVER WONDER WHY IT HAPPENS?
Lighting (besides the food) is one of the essential elements of a restaurant's interior design features, especially when talking about a fish restaurant. To illustrate the lighting concept more clearly, we bring you the Pireu Restaurant, a project by Archimed SPS.
There are two typologies of lighting in this project, functional and decorative.
THAT NEED FOR INTIMACY WHILE ENJOYING A DINNER SO YOU CAN FEEL COMFORTABLE ENOUGH NEEDS THE RIGHT SELECTION OF LIGHT AND COLOR.
When you think of a romantic dinner, why does a dinner under the candlelight come to your mind?
Because under the warm and delicate candlelight of nearly 2000 K, you feel comfortable and at ease.
Aiming to achieve the proper intimacy, a pendant lighting is placed in the center over the dining table, where you can easily see the served food. Generic lighting is found around the dining table, so you can easily notice all features of your companions or even experience the space around you.
To allow the conversation to flow as you can have visual contact with the people around your table, the pendant lighting should be a minimum of 60 cm above the dining table surface.
In Pireu, the functional lighting is from Studio Luce by Abiesse, and it is realized with Pluriel by Exenia, a semi-recessed spotlight with a 2700 K tonality, to create a very warm and intimate atmosphere.
2700 K is the warmest tonality that is found in lighting.
Beyond elegance, the key feature of these lamps is the possibility of directing the lighting to your desired focus, be it the table, the decor, or the wine rack (so you can pick the right wine)!
The service paths where ample lighting is required to ensure safe mobility are of special importance. Therefore a tracking system with projectors was the solution provided by Studio Luce by Abiesse, which would illuminate not only the stairs but also the bas-relief wall that accompanied the stairs up to the first floor.
POSITION, COLOR, INTENSITY, AND HEIGHT ARE THE LIGHTING COMPONENTS THAT INFLUENCE THE OVERALL ATMOSPHERE OF THE SPACE!
Intimacy is essential, but in a fish restaurant, the fish selection process is an experience when you have to choose quality. This process requires that in the fish showcase, the lighting temperature goes from 2700K to 4000K (a more active tonality closer to a white color) so you can understand how fresh your product is.
To have a realistic perception, the selected lighting is CRI97 (Color Rendering Index).
The area dedicated to special (VIP) friends is hidden on the second floor. Besides the pendant lighting, the whole space is illuminated with gypsum spots with no borders, that disappear and are only visible when the light is on.
Leaving the stage to the decorative lighting on the center of the main table.
The restaurant facade is highly curated, where the entrance is highlighted by a maritime themed bas-relief. Meanwhile the adjacent facade is conceived as vertical garden.
Lighting from the ground comes to illuminate this facade through Lito 230. Aria Lighting, of a 3000 K tonality, a little whiter than the overall lighting tonality selected for the interiors, so you can spot all the elements that come together to this sculptural facade.
