ALBANIAN ARCHITECTS: BLERTA VULA RIZVANOLLI
A brief description of you, where you work, how many years of experience you have and your area of expertise.
I am a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Prishtina and with a Master of Science in Architecture and Project Management from UBT and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sheffield. Currently PhD Candidate at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. I started working as a student in a design company in 2005 and since then I have never stopped my professional activity. Currently, I am engaged as a co-manager at the design company Anarch Shpk and at the University as a Teaching Assistant. I also work as a consultant to local and international institutions in the field of energy efficiency and sustainable construction.

Why did you choose architecture? What was the spark that led you to this profession?
Architecture is the challenge I have been looking for since childhood. Only the design field, did not fulfill me, because there was not enough mystery, nor mathematical combinations...
Architecture best combined the artistic spirit with the permanent and unstoppable movement in search of beautiful things.
What do you think of architecture and which is the project that best represents you?
Architecture is at the same time a responsibility and a privilege, which enables us to be close to people and societies, and to influence the way they grow, live and are formed. I will mention three projects that in different ways have influenced my professional figure (I will elaborate the reasons below): Tirana Business Park, RESTORE, AP Headquarters/52555.
Tirana Business Park (management) - as an international investment in Albania, it has grown and matured in terms of project management, a field that has not touched much on architecture.
RESTORE (research) - this research project has given me the opportunity and space to collaborate with many European universities and further develop research skills in the field of sustainable construction.
AP Headquarters/52555 (design) - these are two projects we have been working on recently. One in the center of Tirana, and the other in the south of Albania. While the first portrays the daily coexistence with the online media and their identification as a trash can (by the Prime Minister), the second project combines traditional Albanian architecture with advanced contemporary solutions which are reflected in the waters of the Ionian Sea.
What advice would you give yourself at the beginning of your career, valid even for young architects or those girls/women who want to become architects?
Never stop looking for the best version of you; Do not be afraid of prejudices and do not spare yourself to contribute to a profession that fills the soul in a whole new way every day.
Which architect/artist inspires you in your work?
I am inspired by all architects who do not challenge nature in exchange for their architectural arrogance.
