Përshkrimi
“Checkpoint Charlie” is one of the most known bistro-bars in Tirana, as a meeting point for its last longing clientele.
The project for its reconstruction was very interesting and challenging for us.
We had to consider the symbolism of the name as well as keeping some of the key elements that represents its identity for years.
“Checkpoint Charlie” was conceived as an after war place in many details.
The most important design element used in this project is the partly destroyed façade of a building after the World War II, where you see windows shut with brick walls and its damaged molding frames.
On the other side we find the bar carved in wood which along with the wooden floor and ceiling gives a warm touch and brings life to the damaged texture of the interior.
Another important element is the presence of many paintings printed in wallpaper, whose images bring fragments of life in the 40’s-50’s.
This interior brings in our memory an important period in history, as well as stays timeless in this creative presentation.
