Xhaki Bar

TASK

The main purpose was to create a cozy and also warm interior design for the bar, with a casual gastronomy formula.

CHALLENGES

Time was the main challenge; the bar was still operating when our studio was invited to design the project and the owners needed the best of ideas, implemented in the shortest amount of time possible. The architectural challenges were the three structural inclined columns, right in the middle of the area.

THE CONCEPT

“PLAYING WITH THE OPPOSITE SHAPES”. The main concept was to merge harmonically sharp volumes and sharp shapes with rounded ones, without creating a conflict!

Our Aim was to create something bold but yet elegant; a conflict in the most positive way!

SOLUTION

We decided to give the columns an almost monumental figure so they could become one of the focal points of the interior – which they did! Triangular shapes following each other, almost like climbing, “embracing” each column from bottom to top, creating some kind of futuristic sculptures!

We have used a combination of materials; wood, concrete, metal, glass, tiles of different shapes and prints, gypsum, fabrics, stucco etc. All dedicated to enhance the game of shapes, almost like an armory on them!

We were very careful at fulfilling the main task which was the space’s functionality. The large panoramic windows that face the street can be opened and immediately the outside park of the bar merges with the inside one, enlarging almost twice the capacity and also, making the space look double the size.

The flooring has the same composition and materials inside and out. The purpose was to visually merge the two areas. There is also a fireplace near the elevator area, which, if functional, adds more coziness to the experience, especially in the winter. The studio has designed almost everything, including chairs, cushions, tables. etc.

One of the most important elements is the light! We have been very careful in creating different moods and scenarios so the effect of the whole can be completely absorbed by the mind!
