MK-HOTEL TIRANA
New 5-star Hotel & Pool Garden in Rinas, Albania
The “mk hotel tirana” is planned to be the first internationally certified 5-star hotel in Albania and is the welcome point of the “Tirana Business and Residential Park”, a new urban development zone of 23 ha size invested by Lindner Group from Germany at Rinas, Albania. The property is positioned in a strategic location directly on the main road to Tirana International Airport and in 15km distance to both, the capital city of Tirana and to the Adriatic seaside and the port city of Durres.
The new master plan for the overall development area, also developed by SymbioticA, foresees the creation of real neighborhood and a vast recreational Green Park surrounded by residential and business buildings. The “mk hotel tirana” opened in June 2021 and fronts the overall investment zone as a representative landmark visible from all main access routes. The volume of the hotel building dissolves into green terraces cascading into a private outdoor and garden space including an Olympic size outdoor pool, recreative baths, a barbeque area and playground while the public open space under the main hotel volume connects the private outdoor space to the public green park in the East.
80 hotel rooms (67 double rooms, 6 family rooms, 4 suites, 3 disabled friendly rooms) are designed to the DEHOGA 5-star hotel standard and are supported by a big outdoor and indoor lobby, breakfast room, high-end restaurant and series of outdoor event spaces and fitness zones.
SymbioticA was asked to develop the already chosen style of the “mk hotel” chain further by also integrating local elements from Albania. The exterior and interior spaces of the hotel are an integrated and continuous system of differentiated spaces adjusting to the favorable Mediterranean climate conditions and providing beautiful views on the surrounding landscape. The material palette of the existing mk-hotels (natural wood, steel, leather) was extended with local materials such as mosaic stones and gold applications interpreted in a modern architectural language. The golden travertine façade and golden window frames, combined with the lush Mediterranean vegetation on the terraces and in the gardens, give the building complex a warm and luxurious feeling.
