Challenges
On a green and rocky hill, located in the town of Danilovgrad in Montenegro, there was a need to create a settlement whose design resists the external environment, using materials inspired by it.
Solution
Looking at the villa from the outside, the wooden side of the raised ground floor attracts the visitor’s attention. Walking under the wooden pillars we see a garden table and parking lots, while heading indoors we see the kitchen, living room and dining room. Above the lower level there is a terrace with a wooden deck that forms an open gathering space and meeting point. On the upper level of the settlement, the wood leaves its position to the concrete.
The cubic shape of the first floor reappears through the forest and its straight and simple lines provide a shape that contrasts respectfully with the complex environment. Inside the first floor, we find the bedrooms and some common areas. The interior of the residence follows the philosophy of modeling the facade. Simplicity is the opposite and each space has a clear practical use. It is worth noting that the villa has an abundance of windows - some of them with wide spaces - and through advanced aluminum systems the improvement of natural lighting and the feeling of internal unity is achieved.
The vision of the ANDU architects designed by Villa B, was to create a residence with a clear architectural identity and minimal access that could trigger a contrasting dialogue with the external forest environment. The result provides a harmonious construction that makes living conditions functional and enjoyable.
