Përshkrimi
The client "CARE International", (international organization and Austrian Development Agency), approaches us for commissioning of a project/facility, in the Municipality of Suhareka, with the idea of creating an agricultural HUB for farmers in the province. So, to create an environment for trade and production of agricultural products, without the need for intermediaries, but by the farmers themselves.
The initial idea was great but the budget was impossible.
The client's requirements were quite simple and clear: the articulation of a space easily accessible to both manufacturers and citizens, as well as an exhibition and trade space, for all the products of the province. Suhareka Valley is well known for its agricultural products, especially grape vines, and not only in Kosovo.
Here, then, special importance is given to the grape vine, but not only.
The "Theranda Market" facility is located in the market area of the city of Suhareka.
It covers an area of about 1000 m2, of which, closed is 800 m2. It is worth mentioning that the building is realized with a minimum budget, worth about 170,000 euros (170 euros / m2), which is basically only half the cost of residential buildings in this province.
So, the old challenge of Diran (French Arch) who says: “... the architect in principle has only two tasks: First, to design and build the object as functional, as large and aesthetic as possible; "Second, build it at the lowest possible cost."
This rationalist narrative was an inspiration for us and this was in fact the main reason that made us at "AB GROUP" accept this challenge and the realization of this project.
The main inspiration for this building comes from the use of basic building materials, which prevail in this province and which are mainly wood, stone and definitely glass, as an inevitable material in contemporary architecture. Also the simplicity and tectonic dynamics of this area tried to mimic through the massive roof.
The facility of "Theranda Market" not only meets customer requirements and urban conditions, but also in the philosophy of passive energy control, takes into account the most rational use of solar energy. The entrances to the building are on the North - South axis, while in terms of openings the building is more economical in the East compared to the West, this is due to maintaining micro-climatic conditions within the building as constant as possible, for the sake of exhibited products.
The layout of the building is completely flexible and the articulation of its interior for the exhibition of fruits, vegetables, dairy, honey, wine, flowers, etc ... is done through only one element, through the exhibition stall.
The counter was also designed by "AB GROUP" and produced specifically for the needs of the project/facility in question.
