THE JOYFUL JOURNEY OF EXPO ALBANIA

The position of the area of the project in such a strategic point lead us to image Expo Albania as the center of gravity where all the flows converge. The flows of the surrounding area are not just respected but celebrated, with curvilinear volumes that embody the natural contours of the site. Their curved surfaces run all the façade and culminate in a highrise, creating a landmark for Farka and Tirana.

We strongly belive in the power that the public space has in creating relations between people but also with nature and that’s why we implemented a system of squares positioned at various levels which are connected by ramps that create a continuous walkaway. They transform the building into a multifunctional space, blurring the lines between the building and the internal square. This way they connect the bunkers with a highrise, roof stairs where you can relax or watch a concert in the main square, expositive external areas, a labyrinth of metallic expositive sheets and until they bring you back to the entrance-exit point.

Why you need to walk all these ramps despite their function?

The journey of Expo Albania begins with a green area, bunkers and a tower, merging this way, nature, history and contemporaneity. We thought of bunkers as dream collectors, a space where you begin your journey by writing down your dream and to catch it you need to follow the ramps that lead you to different levels, different experiences. When you reach the terrace where your dream is projected, will you be the same? Does your dream still fit you? The ramps still lead you to the bunkers so you can write down another one, a continuous loop as life itself.
