Perhaps one of the least-used colors in building design, purple’s power to influence lies in its well-known association with royalty. Since purple is seen so infrequently in architecture, it tends to attract attention whenever it’s used, but as demonstrated in this project by MUR, it should be wielded carefully, as a delicate sense of balance is needed to use it effectively. Although in small doses, it gives this brutal interior the proper warmth and sophistication without getting out of its industrial context.
