VILLA ANA METAMORPHOSIS
Villa Ana has undergone a significant metamorphosis, meaning a transformation in all its meaning. Situated at the perfect spot by the Erzen River, transitioning from a house constructed informally by a local villager without an architectural plan, it evolves into a contemporary touch of sophistication where aesthetics, form, and material intertwine and stand out in the suburban residential fabric surrounding it.
The new transformative project begins with the relationship with light, which serves as the heart of the transformation, without completely disrupting the existing spaces. To give a sense of the former animal shelter on the ground floor, this existing space is converted into a living area, treated according to the concept of open space, covering an area of about 180m². It opens in a perfect panoramic view towards the Erzen River and the surrounding landscape. As this floor was partially underground from the south side, a strong linear longitudinal opening is created precisely there, allowing for the interplay of several elements in direct correspondence with each other:
- Introducing southern light zenithally, creating a play of shadows with the façade elements,
- Placing a long linear planter about 18 meters long, filled with lush greenery, directly receiving zenithal light from the new linear window,
- Installing a very long linear counter next to the planter, concluding with an irregular and open staircase.
The internal metamorphosis continues externally by modifying the roof, architectural openings, and balcony, creating a new dynamic and captivating figure, a contemporary line that immediately catches the eye. The connecting contrast from the outside to the inside spaces is distinguished by an approach to a calm and discreet atmosphere, a symphony of colors and materials, where human comfort is at the heart of the experience.
The upper part is entirely dedicated to nighttime spaces, a direct connection with nature and the panorama, which ensures privacy and tranquility. Time stands still as natural light filters through the new panoramic windows, especially the zenithal one where there is a magical fusion between interior and exterior.
A conservative aproach preserving the wild existing nature was necessary in the enchanting garden surrounding the building. By rehabilitating some parts, without major modifications for the future, a space has been left to create the new pool and an outdoor terrace, the perfect spot for a summer retreat.
The play of light and shadows, the symbiotic ascent between the building and nature, create a zen atmosphere especially when the dark evening is surrounded by a starry sky.
