A brief description of you, where you work, how many years of experience you have and your area of expertise:
My career as an architect started 9 years ago, as part of a group of architects in a well-known Albanian practice. With a great desire and passion for what I did, as well as perseverance, I created LAAGO Architects, the architecture studio that I run for five years. I am happy to share my skills and expertise with a staff of young and motivated architects.
Why did you choose architecture? What was the spark that led you to this profession?
My connection to architecture was created in a very organic and natural way. The desire for drawing was born when I was very young and grew with me. The attraction to beauty, creativity, the desire to beautify, change the things around me have been the first sparks that made me think that my profession as an architect would best fulfill my desire to change and positively impact people’s lives. This desire turned into passion and was fulfilled with sensitivity, mission, perseverance, courage and hard work.
What do you think of architecture and which is the project that best represents you?
"Architecture is the mother of art. Without an architecture that belongs to us, that is ours, our civilization has no soul." - would write Frank Lloyd Wright.
Architecture for me has a very dimensional "soul"... It creates the new, but preserving the past, conveys ideas, models the beautiful, changes viewpoints and educates society. This is also my mission... I think of Architecture as a complex, comprehensive field, with a great social, progressive, developmental impact on society. Architecture has the power to educate, guide, improve and beautify human life.
I can not choose between my projects as each of them has been treated with maximum professionalism, passion and responsibility. Thanks to my desire and dedication and the team I work with, I have become part of this group of professionals who have the opportunity and ability to make the world a better and more beautiful place to live in.
What advice would you give yourself at the beginning of your career, valid even for young architects or those girls/women who want to become architects?
Nothing comes of nothing, passion and determination are required in everything we do to achieve success. I believe that life rewards the most courageous and this courage should be endowed with a lot of work, passion and desire to develop. We as architects must be in constant search, looking at the world with curiosity, to create analytically a different, increasingly beautiful reality; to be aware that it is up to us to create social models while being very responsible and aware of the opportunity and trust given to us.
