A brief description of you, where you work, how many years of experience you have and your area of expertise:
My professional career in the field of architecture started in 2014 after I moved to London to start working in the English office Grimshaw. Education in Italy at the Polytechnic University of Turin, work in the UK as an Architect, experience in Albania as Coordinator and Design Manager for Grimshaw (London) and recent engagement at the Grimshaw office in Paris have allowed me to get acquainted with work and different cultures and qualify as an international professional in the field of Architecture and Urban Design.
Why did you choose architecture? What was the spark that led you to this profession?
The choice of Architecture has been the best compromise that united my passion for the exact sciences inherited from my family (mostly engineers) and the passion for art born and nurtured by the Italian context in which I grew up.
What do you think of architecture and which is the project that best represents you?
Architecture is a field that involves many disciplines and this is its most tempting feature. It requires a constant commitment and research. It is imperative that the architect always carries out in-depth research and collaborate with various experts to act in the most accurate and subtle way in a given context.
The project that best represents me is undoubtedly the study of urban development of Tirana that started in 2012 and was finalized in the "Tirana 100 anni capitale" book in 2020 thanks to the Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana and Toena Publications. I call this a project because as I said above, studying the context in which it operates is part of the profession and this is as important as the design of the project itself.
What advice would you give yourself at the beginning of your career, valid even for young architects or those girls/women who want to become architects?
The awareness of responsibility that we as architects have is important to build dignified pieces consistently. Architecture relates to everything that has to do with man: history, functionality, beauty, social access, cultural heritage and the environment. For all the girls who have just started their career in architecture my advice is to keep in the foreground their objectives regarding the ethics and values of the profession by challenging the limits.
