How do you imagine an office building? What are the needs of people working in an open work environment? Such questions receive architectural answers through Theanous SPACES in Petralona, Athens.
Solution
In a densely populated area, the biggest challenge for a building that was designed for rental offices was to create spaces, which would be constructed in a smart way, to minimize the loss of a few square meters and in at the same time it would offer a pleasant atmosphere to work. His stakes were high for barespace, the architectural office responsible for researching and designing this new project, which should create an exemplary building for its character within the urban environment.
The building's past is industrial, used as a factory for the production of sports sneakers. Modern design connects the past with the present, enhancing the modern aesthetic that serves the needs of offices, workspaces and meeting rooms. Barespace's vision is to maintain large spaces, so the use of industrial-looking aluminum frames that resemble the steel frames of the past is in line with the design proposal. The same thing happened with the facade, preserving the original industrial look, while the coating process helped to achieve higher levels of thermal insulation
The style of the interior is minimal and natural light is scattered everywhere. Large visible ventilation pipes remind us of the industrial past and provide a modern element. The walls are mostly white with notes in olive color, while in the common spaces we find wooden surfaces.
SPACES Theanous is a modern project, where the heart is anthropocentric. Large spaces, natural light and industrial aesthetics, are the main elements, which go hand in hand with the architectural trends of the modern world, but also relate to its past.
