Challenge
The choice to build 5 villas in one of the most popular areas of the Sithonia region in Chalkidiki, Greece, came with the precondition of respecting tradition in combination with contemporary values of sustainability and circulating economy.
Solution
ArtHill Ecological Villas consist of 5 two-level villas that were created as tourist accommodations, designed to provide a unique experience for each visitor. From the beginning, the main issue was the integration of Greek tradition and hospitality into the access of buildings.
A warm feeling for anyone living inside. Architects Panagiotis Karagiannis and Tina Gkountara incorporate this philosophy into the design of the 5 buildings, making them accessible to anyone seeking personal balance with a "feel at home" style.
The striking exterior element is of course the stone on the façade that brings to mind the tradition and reminds us of the long history of Nikit (the name of this small town in Kalkidiki). Each villa has a private pool, terrace, minimal pergolas and a small garden, from which guests can harvest vegetables and herbs for their meals.
Going inside we can easily notice the continuity of the stone element, which combined with Elegant wooden details give a friendly and anthropocentric personality to 55 square meters of any building.
Moreover, modern thermally insulated aluminum systems provide up-to-date views of buildings, while - due to their design - allow large window spaces to be covered and contribute to the diffusion of abundant natural light inside.
It is worth noting that each cottage is energy efficient through solar panels. 5 villas that make up ArtHill Ecological Villas convey the vision of high quality accommodation and total relaxation.
However, they do not forget the main issue of our times: sustainability and environmental protection.
