A brief description of you, where you work, how many years of experience you have and your area of expertise:
Anila Kokona Alite is an architect and urban planner with a long academic and work experience in Albania and abroad. She has completed her studies at the Polytechnic University of Tirana for architecture and a master's degree in EALR, France for territory management. After a long experience as a lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Urbanism where she was involved in a series of studies on architecture field problems, she founded her practice, conceived in 2004 as a "full service" studio, with the right expertise and structure for services in the field of construction, from master plans, urban studies, to architecture and interior design. During this time, the studio has worked and collaborated on over 100 projects, of which a more profiled expertise has been developed in residential and tourist complexes contextualized with local conditions, heritage, but also the social aspirations of a changing country, protecting and activate its considerable potentials.
Why did you choose architecture? What was the spark that led you to this profession?
The choice of architecture as a profession did not start with a spark, but it has been the result of a long journey between curiosity and the desire to know and contribute in different social, technical and creative directions. And I always thought that architecture does this synthesis the best. In this context, considering the endless possibilities and horizons of architecture to shape personal creativity, but also the physical world that surrounds us, architecture itself was never for me either a question or a dilemma.
What do you think of architecture and which is the project that best represents you?
Onerous ...
What advice would you give yourself at the beginning of your career, valid even for young architects or those girls/women who want to become architects?
Architecture is so vast and complicated that the knowledge does not end there. Learn from anyone and everything, but define when to refer to an outside feed and when to trust your intuition. To design often means to set a balance between total modesty and intact individualism - to the needs of the project, but also to maintain enthusiasm and vision along the way.
About the projects:
-Long Hill Residence
One of the first projects in the development of suburban areas, Long Hill Residence crystallizes a wide and deep experience with many different architectural typologies to achieve a total synthesis between architecture and nature, using urbanism to reconcile these two contrasting units in a coherent solution. The complex faces modern rationality with a seemingly chaotic and spontaneous urban plan, but really deeply informed by the terrain and natural features of the hills of Tirana, effectively delivering the sloping terrains with a contemporary but never monotonous spirit.
-Credins Bank Headquarters
The Credins Bank Headquarters project harmonizes the same visual design language between its exterior and interior, adapting the geometric language of a monolithic façade to the functional and programmatic solution of a space with very specific requirements. In this way, the architecture of Credins Bank synthesizes a clear visual and branding language of the institution itself with functional spaces that reflect the contemporary work needs of financial institutions.
