From the architect

Core Pilates & Yoga Studio comes as the second project that we would create after the first Core studio design, the need for the brand to expand and surpass the actual studio's physical limitations to offer more classes and diversify its disiplines.

The new space was ideal. Firstly because it had a great height, creating a superb sense of breathing!

Secondly, it has a geat orientation and positioning.  Located on the third floor, inside the  Coin shopping center,  with a glass facade on the studio's perimeter,  it expands the view toward the city while you train, creating an ample space. As the studio is  oriented to the north-east, with no direct sun into interfering with the practise,  it provides the ideal circumstances to train throughout the day in  a space filled with natural light.

The main call was to minimaly interefere into the space's structure, exposing the columns on their raw state and uncovering the ceiling, with the desire to preserve as much height as we could.

Following the steps of the first project, the style was minimalist with slight burtalist enhances, while still enabling a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Space

The main columns, were left into their original state with all  their “ flaws” and they were treated with only a stone varnish to protect them.

While the ceiling was impossible to be left in plain view due to the great amount of equipments and tubes that supplied also the shopping center itself. So we used a  suspended ceiling in the yoga room and in the communication areas, meanwhile at the pilates area we used perforated metal panels. The lighting lines also follow the communication areas to  easily guide clients  into  the studio.

The desire to create a fluid space that transformes according the studio's need, and not a rigid divided one, organically led to use an accordion door system for the yoga and mat room, located just in the centre of the  studio. An intimate space that shapes depending on the practise requirements and that has natural flux of light.

Reception, juice and coffe bar, accompain the client to the changing rooms. By intertwining the movement of these services’ lines we managed to create also a storage room, at the entrance, just by the reception, which came up as a great necessity at the first Core studio project.

Colors

All the used colors, are part of the brand’s identity: light, cozy and relaxing colors.

Here you can train with the feeling of being outside, adding to your experience additional value, which was our goal for this project!
