Përshkrimi
The hotel rooms are characterized by a minimalist style, in which traditional Albanian elements are intertwined. The main used materials are: white plaster, concrete, wood and rusty metal sheets. Carpets with folk motifs were used as the main decor of the rooms. We also used the geometric motif of the carpet in the furniture design.
The simplicity of the interior design gives a feeling of calmness and comfort. The roughness of concrete is softened by the warmth of the wood cladding and the nuances of ethnic elements where red and black are predominant. The bathrooms are coated in ceramic tiles characterized by a strong color stimulation, different for each room. This “game” of color combination of cold and warm gives an invigorating effect to the environment.
Inspired by the color palette of the Albanian carpets, the lighting elements are also chosen in black, and have a geometrically simple shape.
The lighting elements are placed in the mural position, freeing up the ceiling so as not to limit the height of the room. Technically, these quality rooms are organized according to design standards. Each one has a balcony facing south, giving the opportunity to enjoy the view over the nature of Surrel, a village in Tirana.
The balconies, as well as a part of the walls inside the rooms are covered with rusty metal sheets. It is no coincidence that we used metal sheets, as it is an element that revokes handicrafts. In this case the building is located near an area that was once famous for blacksmithing and ceramics. This cladding element was used in the interior spaces to create a continuity line with the balconies, where the same material is present.
For this project we would say that it follows a very contemporary concept, where at the same time we aimed to bring the “yeast” (tharm) of the Albanian tradition.
