Open lecture on Achille Castiglioni creativity

In order to be a good architect, besides talent, it is important to study, research and to have knowledge about this profession. Especially when it comes to masters of architecture and design history. Precisely, to get future architects familiar with one of the design icons, we have organized an event based on Achille Castiglioni creativity and focused mainly on his lamp designs.

Castiglioni is one of the great masters of Italian design, who has made a series of iconic products throughout his career . His activity as a designer is an incomprehensible blend of simplicity, irony and fun, and shows his intense interest in the way objects are used, the potential offered by technology and the use of new materials. He has created a variety of utilities, including dishes, forks and spoons, salt shaker, bulbs, lamps, washing machines, cameras, headphones and more.

An important part of his creativity  is represented in lamps. That is why his daughter, Giovanna, who currently runs the Achille Castiglioni Foundation, will come to Tirana, in an open seminar, to explain the philosophy behind Castiglioni’s creations, illustrated by some of his iconic products such as:

Castiglioni Foundation:

In January 2006, the heirs of Achille Castiglioni signed a five-year agreement with the Milan Triennale, so that the Studio Museum of Achille Castiglioni would be open to the public and exhibit his works. Given the success of these years, more than 40,000 visitors (2014), the Castiglioni family wanted to continue sharing the place and the stories stored in it with visitors. For that reason, and to develop numerous projects that included the Studio Museum, the Achille Castiglioni Foundation was established on December 14, 2011. The main purpose of the foundation was to compose, archive, digitize projects, drawings, photos, models, films, conferences, objects, books, magazines, etc. In other words, to show all of the world in which Achile worked for more than 60 years of his career.
