GLASS ART – COMPOSING WITH SHADES OF TRANSPARENCY UNDER THE LIGHT

Vasil Dhiamandi, is one of the few Albanian artists to work with the glass art techniques. As part of the applied arts, glass art includes, stained glass, fusion glass, the well knowing Murano technique (glassblowing) etc, have a wide application in the interior and exterior as a meeting point between art and functionality  under the services of architectural space.

The art of glass is originated with the ancient technique of stained glass, which had a variety of application in the Byzantine period in the 4th and 5th century in Gothic architecture.

Contemporary artistic tendencies, with authors such as Le Corbusier, Matisse, and others have used the art of glass to make significant works; however, the golden age of stained glass is during the Gothic and Renaissance periods.

Beyond the application and use of this art by royalty and in monumental churches, the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, a few centuries later used stained glass as a mean to create a more organic and transparent interior architecture.

The technique applied in this work is the fusion glass. Glass is melted at 720 degrees to be transformed under the creativity of the artist. Interaction with transparency, colors, volumes and shadows are the tools of this creation.

Artist Vasil Dhiamandi uses glass and its many techniques, in order to paint with shades, form and transparency and create a unique experience in the architectural space.
